What research questions might a biologist ask about the pyramids? An anthropologist? An economist? Brainstorm as many questions, from as many different disciplinary perspectives as you can, about the Giza Pyramids.
1b. I wonder . . . ? What if . . . ? How does . . . ? Why did . . . ? What are you curious about? What questions matter to you? Why? Brainstorm several general questions—about anything or several things—that you find interesting and/or important. Then, for each of these questions, identify a smaller subset of questions that might emerge from various disciplinary perspectives, as a way of gaining practice refining and tailoring questions inflected by perspective.
1c. Using a research-based text of your choosing, identify the main questions informing that text. What explicit questions are included in the text? What are the underlying, or implicit, questions sponsoring the research?
1d. Why are certain questions more engaging? What, if anything, makes certain questions less effective?
