PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS DISCUSSION POST AND describe whether you noticed the same trend over time or if you have not noticed the same trend. When gathering data from these sources, there is a lot of statistics for different fields. One of the ones that caught my attention was the higher employment in Health Care. Health Care employment went up by approximately 28,000 jobs, 16,000 of which were in hospitals. However, even with this considerable addition, Health Care is still down around 1.3 percent compared to February of 2020. This is likely due to the steep drop-off of Health Care workers at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The trend over the last year has shown that the health care industry is gaining more positions for employment and will very soon be back to where it was before the pandemic, especially now that it is much safer compared to when it had first begun. Another trend that caught my eye was Leisure and Hospitality. Like Health Care, this field also saw a massive increase of 84,000 jobs, but is still down 7.9 percent, or 1.3 million jobs. This is also due to the lack of tourism, gatherings, travel, etc. The trend over the past few months sees that this field is also rising, but may take a while to get back to normal. I thought it was interesting to look at two areas that the pandemic had hit very directly and see what type of impact it had. Both of the areas mentioned are still down a large number of workers than they started with before the pandemic, but as things go back to normal slowly, more and more people are being employed to fill those gaps. This can show that the economy will eventually make a leap when you look at employment rates, but as of right now we are still below what we were pre-pandemic, which is negatively affecting our economy.
