Some who have the gene have made the decision to go ahead and have a mastectomy before cancer gets a chance to present itself. One famous case is actress Angelina Jolie, who had a double mastectomy because she carried the BRCA1 gene. Do some research to see if this is the only option for those who carry the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene. What would be the side effects of this treatment? Then discuss your opinion: Is opting for this treatment a wise course or not?

I think no because it is only a 10 percent chance of getting breast cancer. If the chance was higher then yes I would opt for the treatment

Normally, the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes protect you from getting certain cancers. But some mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes prevent them from working properly, so that if you inherit one of these mutations, you are more likely to get breast, ovarian, and other cancers.
