Having pets during childhood can improve relationships with others by teaching them compassion in love for something other than themselves and teaching them responsibility for something else in order to keep that thing alive/happy. It teaches them responsibility because they have to feed it daily make sure it goes out to the bathroom take it on walks and keep it happy and make sure it has an enjoyable life.
