5/5x + 12/5 = 18
x = 18 - 12/5
x =( 90 - 12)/5
x = 78/5

First you distribute [tex]1/5[/tex] to [tex](5x+12)[/tex]
So you should get [tex]x+2.4=18[/tex]
Next, you subtract [tex]2.4[/tex] from each side to isolate [tex]x[/tex]
Finally you should have this:
[tex]x=15.6[/tex]
