You need to isolate the variable x. You can do that by either adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing each side by whatever number. Some examples are #2 x-2=-9 +2 +2 x=-7
#7 -75=-5x ----- ----- <---- means dividing -5 -5 15=x
#12 3/4=x/16 Multiply each side by the reciprocal of the fraction with the variable. 16/1 • 3/4=x/16 • 16/1 If you do that and then simply on the 16/1 • 3/4 side to make it easier you should get 12=x
