In chilly and cold conditions, the engine requires more volatile components of gasoline particularly during ignition. Since less volatile components are required in summer,it is therefore desirable for gasoline to burn in these conditions. It reduces air pollution and loss of fuel consumption. Technically speaking, when it's cold, the gas lines freezes and results to the car not starting up. During winter, diesel fuel will experience a very low cloud point and may end up blocking fuel lines.
