I need to Circle the linking verb in each sentence.. And underline the words that each linking verb connects, but I don't know what linking verbs are.. I did, but I forgot cause I learned this last year, any way one of you can help me understand linking verbs?

linking verbs are verbs that express a state of being. They are called "linking verbs" because they link the subject of the sentence to a word or phrase in the predicate that renames or describes the subject (tells us more about the subject's "state of being"). List:
