[tex]6x + 3y = 12\\ 6x - 5y = 60\\\\ 6x + 3y = 12\\ -6x + 5y = -60\\ --------\\ 8y=-48\\ y=-6\\\\ 6x+3\cdot(-6)=12\\ 6x-18=12\\ 6x=30\\ x=5 [/tex]

6x+3y=12. so... 6x=12-3y.
6x-5y=60, so... 6x=60+5y
As 6x=6x
12-3y=60+5y
12-60=8y
8y=-48
So y=-48/8=-6
When y=-6,
6x-5(-6)=60
6x+30=60
6x=30
Therefore x=5.
So x=5 and y=-6.
