PLZ HELP ME!!! 30 POINTS AND BRAINLIEST!!!!

A caterpillar tries to climb straight up a wall two meters high, but for every 2 cm up it climbs, it slides down 1 cm. Eventually, it reaches the top. When it reaches the top, it does not pull itself over so it will slide down 1 cm.

What is the total distance traveled? (Remember, he traveled in an up-and-down motion.)

AL2006
-- In order to make  1 cm  of upward progress, the poor thing
travels  3 cm . . . 2 cm  up and  1 cm  down.

-- So, in order to reach  199 cm  from the floor, it travels (199 x 3) = 597 cm.

-- Then it can sit there for a while, rest and breathe, and then climb the 1 more cm to the top.

-- Total travel = (597 + 1)  =  598 cm .
